Calling Troop 818 Scouts and Scouters! Join us for our bi-annual Zion outing. In the history of the troop, this outing has been something big to look forward to. If you don’t know, Zion is a National Park in Utah. The drive will be longer than usual. At Zion one of our main highlights is the hike. We are still deciding what hikes to do, but possibilities include: Scouts landing and the Narrows. All of the hiking options are beautiful and moderate in size. We will arrange hiking groups by difficulty.
Departure and arrival will be staggered depending on scouts, adults, cars, and distance. Costs are still being calculated but will be communicated to the troop when finished. We will have multiple campsites for scouts and adults.
Based on weather, age, and skill, scouts will be assigned a maximum of how far to go into the Narrows. Older scouts could be up to shoulder height in water maximum. The water will be cold so be prepared. Since this activity involves water, all participants (adults & scouts) will need to have taken the Scouting Swim Test within the last 12 months. So those that have attended a summer camp or SeaBase this past summer and have passed their swimming test will not need to do it again.
The registration link has already been sent out by the scoutmaster.
