Come join us during our May Outing on May 14-16 as we head North for a water adventure. We
will be camping near the Beasley Flats RP, along the banks of the Verde River. On Saturday morning we will be shuttled by an outfitter and launch inflatable kayaks for a float/paddle along the wild and scenic Verde River. The trip will take an estimated 2.5-3 hours. Scouts will be sized for appropriate sized kayaks to ensure they are easily guided down the river.

May 14th – Depart St. Bernadette’s at 5 pm for our 1.5-hour commute to Otter Banks campsite
along the Verde. Boys should plan on eating on the way and have a meal packed for this purpose. Set up camp in patrols and hopefully enjoy a campfire if permitted.

May 15th – Wake up and have breakfast around 8:00 am. Meat outfitter at Beasley Flats parking
lot and await shuttles upriver. There will be launches from 9 am-10 am, with as many as 30-35 crafts coming downstream. Our pullout will also be at Beasley Flats and the boys who launched early can splash in the river or possibly even drop some line in the water. Lunch back at camp with patrols afternoon free time, possibly fishing. Dinner with patrols.

May 16th – Breakfast with patrols, break camp and head back to Scottsdale. Arrival at church at
11:30 am.

Scouts should be prepared to get wet. Water shoes/Tevas, swimsuit, sun hat, suntan lotion, and long sleeve shirt to keep the sun off. Water bottle/camelback and snacks for the kayak ride downstream. All scouts must have passed the swim test on April 11th to be able to participate. The expected costs of this trip are $90 per scout.

Scouts must sign up at the attached signup genius.

We expect this event to approach sell out and we have asked parents for additional
kayaks/paddles/life vests for this reason.
