Food and Water
The only meal provided by the Event is breakfast Saturday morning so patrols will plan a Saturday dinner and Sunday Breakfast. Scouts will be responsible for bringing Friday dinner and Saturday Lunch. Both should be sack meals. We will have the local Elks Club fixing their well known Breakfast Burritos on Saturday Morning, along with juice, milk, and Gatorade. Scouts should plan an excellent dinner for the cooking contest which is your meal for Saturday evening. The required element of the meal is bread. Provide enough of the meal for a good taste by 3 judges, some of which are Scout Moms. They know what they are looking for. We strongly suggest the scouts and scouters who will be canoeing prepare their lunch in advance and take it with them. They may be on the river, in a contest, or working on the service project when lunch time comes around. Since you may be on the river the scouts and scouters are advised to make your meal “waterproof and floatable” in case of an unfortunate swamping of the canoe. Finally, be sure to bring lots of water. River water is undrinkable unless it is filtered or sanitized. Canoeing is a physical effort- like hiking but with your arms- so be prepared and bring plenty of extra water.

Transportation and Setup
Please be at the church around 3:45 pm. We are hoping to leave by 4:15. It will be a three hour car ride and we are not stopping for dinner. We should get there at about 7:15. The sun sets at 6:59 so we won’t have any sunlight. Remember to bring a flashlight.
The attached leader guides will answer most of your questions.
