Outing Details:

  • Dates: Friday, November 10 – Sunday, November 12
    • Meet @ 5 pm on Friday, Nov 10th @ the Church, plan to stop for dinner in Payson
    • Return @ ~11 am on Sunday, Nov 12th
  • Where: Camp R-C, outside of Payson, AZ
  • Expected weather: highs in the mid-60’s and lows close to freezing
  • Event fee: $22 per person (includes event fee and gas reimbursement for drivers)

Overview:

At the Four Peaks Fall Camporee, Scouts will compete as patrols and be able to test their skill in a number of events focused on the theme “Primal Survival!”  In addition, the Camporee provides an opportunity to meet other Scouts from around the District and to enjoy a great Campfire on Saturday night.  Camporee events will include:

    • Archery
    • Fire Starting
    • Primitive Shelter
    • BB Gun
    • Knot Tying
    • Tomahawk Throw
    • Orienteering
    • Avoid the Mines

Older Scouts that are interested in being on Staff, please talk with Mr Smith or Mr Whitney.

Schedule:

  • 6 am Reveille
  • 7:45 am muster for colors
  • 8 am 1st session
  • 9:15 am 2nd session
  • 10:30 am 3rd session
  • 11:30 -12:30 lunch
  • 12:30 pm 4th session
  • 1:45 pm 5th session
  • 3 pm 6th session
  • 4:30 break for dinner
  • 7 pm campfire/evening colors
  • 10 pm lights out

 

Meals:

  • Scouts should bring a sack lunch for Saturday.  Lunch should be portable.  It is likely that you will eat lunch away from camp.
  • Patrols should plan for 2 breakfasts (Saturday & Sunday) and 1 dinner

Equipment:

  • Patrol — At the Camporee, we will camp as a Troop and cook in Patrols.  Patrols should plan to camp for 2 nights and for 3 cooked meals.
  • Personal – This is a basecamp.  Scouts should plan for 2 nights camping with Fall/Winter conditions.  Temperatures are likely to be close to freezing overnight, so Scouts should be prepared to sleep warm.

Conclusion:

The Camporee should be a fun experience for all Scouts who attend.  The Camporee staff has worked hard to put together an enjoyable event.
