The Scouts will be enjoying the Winter Sports activities by skiing and snowboarding at Sunrise Ski Resort in Pinetop Arizona.
This outing is appropriate for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels, lessons will be provided and adult leaders will provide training and assistance.
The cost is $150.00 per Scout, which includes equipment rental, lift tickets, gas money for drivers, lodging and some meals (see outing plan below).
The outing plan is:
Friday, February 19th 4:30PM : Depart from St. Bernadettes Church. Arrive in Pinetop (176 miles) around 8:00PM and eat fast food, Scouts should bring cash for dinner. Go to Snowriders Board and Ski Shop @ 857 E White Mountain Blvd. Pinetop (928)367-5638 try on and rent a proper ski helmet.
Push on to Greer Peaks Resort @ One Main St. Greer, (46 miles)
For lodging. Scouts need to bring (they will be sleeping on the floor in the main lodge room):
1) Sleeping bag, pad and pillow.
2) Bathroom items and towel for shower.
3) Warm clothes and Ski clothes.
4) Water bottle and snacks.
Saturday: Up early (5:45am), the Resort is providing breakfast then travel to Sunrise Ski Resort by 8:00AM. Rent ski equipment and begin our fun filled day on the slopes.
BRING A LUNCH, or bring cash and take your chances – we hear the restaurant is very slow.
Dinner – Warm up frozen Pizza at the Resort (provided by Troop)
Sunday – Up and out. The resort is providing Breakfast. We need to return the helmets in Pinetop by 9:00AM. Back to the church in Phoenix around 1:00-2:00PM.
