Hello Troop 818 Scouts, Parents, Leaders and Webelo II Guests,

We have an outstanding Mountain Man program and campout scheduled for
January 27th-29th 2023. The event is being held at Seven Springs Group
campsite.  Travel time should be approximately 1 hour and some of the road
there is forest road, easily traversed by any vehicle.

Weather Report – Highs low 60’s lows low 40’s, no rain in forecast. This is why we live in Arizona

AOL’s – You are our guests; no outing fee is required. Please plan to arrive at 9:00AM Saturday the 28th. Activities will start around 9:45 AM and should wrap up around 4:00PM (see the list of activities and times below). Details to note:

  • Please wear full field uniform (class A)
  • Please protection yourself from the sun use sunscreen and wear a hat
  • Hamburger lunch will be served to all guests
  • Your welcome to stay for evening activities and camp out. All AOL scouts must be accompanied by, and camp with, a parent or legal guardian.
  • If camping out you will need to provide your additional meals

Scouts– Outing fee is $20. Fires are allowed, the campsite has bathrooms and
potable water for drinking. Bring a sack dinner Friday night, hamburger lunch
Saturday is provided by the Troop. Patrols should meal plan for breakfasts (Saturday & Sunday),
Saturday dinner and a tasty dessert entry in the Iron Chef Competition.

Friday, January 27th, 2023 – Gather at St. Bernadette’s at 6:00PM depart by 6:30PM Arrive at campsite, set up, enjoy the sack dinner you remembered to bring- (No real options for picking up dinner along the way) Informal campfire, lights out at 10:00PM

6:45 “REVEILLE” – Wake up
7:00 Flag Ceremony, Scout Oath/Law, Prayer and Announcements
7:15 Patrol breakfast and clean up
8:00 Scout free time while adults set up stations
9:00 AOL scouts arrive
9:30 Announcement of MM events and organize into groups
9:45 Mountain Man Events

  1. Leatherworking – Ms. Anitha and Ms. Bonnie
  2. Blacksmithing- Mr. Miller
  3. Frisbee golf – The Finigians

12:00-12:45 lunch and finish earlier projects

  1. Char cloth and fire building – Mr. Carlson / Mr. Duclos

  3. Tomahawk throw – Mr. Reed/TJ
  4. Pioneering/Knots – Colton and Sam

4:30 – Patrols cook dinner and Iron chef desserts – scouts bring your own ingredients
6:00 – Dinner and Iron Chef Dessert competition

7:30 – US Flag Retirement ceremony-Limit flags
8:30- Scout led Campfire program
10:30 – “Taps” lights out

Sunday January 29th, 2023
7:00 – Wake up and eat a light breakfast by patrol
8:00 – Pack up
8:30 – Flag ceremony, scouts own – roses, buds and thorns.
10:00 depart
